Anaheim girl murder - A nine year old Anaheim girl has been killed by a stray bullet while playing with friends outside her home. According to a statement released by Anaheim Police on Saturday, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the heart breaking murder of the child, which occurred earlier this week.
Alfredo Miguel Aquino, 20, and Ricardo Cruz, 19, were arrested on Friday in connection with the Anaheim girl's murder.
Reports indicate that the incident happened on Wednesday evening while Ximena Meza was playing with her siblings and friends in front of her family's apartment on West Green acre Avenue.
A man, who allegedly came out of a white car, is said to have opened fire on a group of bystanders and a stray bullet hit the child in the chest and led to the Anaheim girl's murder. 9-years-old Ximena was confirmed dead from the gunshot wound.
The Anaheim girl's murder has sent shock waves through residents in Anaheim; a California city renown for being home to Disneyland but which has been plagued with a lot of gang-related activities.
Reports indicate that the two men who were arrested are gang members who have criminal records. Prior to the heartbreaking incident, Aquino was reportedly on probation, while Cruz was on parole.
Anaheim Police Chief Paul Quezada refused to state the names of the gangs they belonged to due to on-going investigations.
Quezada says the men, who were the main target of the shooting, escaped and no other gunshot victims were found within the neighborhood.
A $50,000 reward is being offered by the city to anyone who will assist the police by providing information that will lead to a conviction in the case.
Many pundits have condemned the Anaheim girl's murder. The suspects, who were both apprehended by the cops after receiving tips from anonymous sources, are being held on a bail of $1 million.
