Man shoots teen for laughing - A man in the Northwest of Indiana, whose house was robbed, has shot and killed his 13-years-old neighbor for laughing at his misfortune.
Indiana police reports indicate that the suspect, who lives on 1000 block, Polk Street, arrived home on Friday and discovered that his residence had been burglarized.
Kobe Jones, the man's teenage neighbor, was reportedly making a jest of the unidentified man's plight. This enraged the already distraught man, whose name has not been disclosed, pushing him to shoot at the teen.
Reports indicate that he shot Jones at least nine times. The teenager reportedly died on the spot.
"I was told my son was laughing and the guy shot him dead," Kaunda Jones, the teens father was quoted saying by NBC Chicago.
The police have since apprehended the main suspect in the 'man shoots teen for laughing' incident. Reports indicate that the suspect was with his 32-years-old girlfriend at the time he discovered his house had been broken into and saw Jones chuckling.
Detective James Nielsen explained the circumstances that led to the death of the teen. According to him, after finding his apartment burglarized, the suspect "started then, up and down the street, knocking [on doors] and wanting to know who broke into his home.'
The suspect "and the victim apparently got into a verbal altercation, and the shots were fired," Chicago, Gary police Sgt. Tom Decanter said.
"Nobody plans to bury a child of 13 years old. Nobody was planning for a funeral" Starr Jones, Kobe's step mother told reporters.
The killing of the unarmed teen has shocked and angered many. The fact that "your house is burglarized, and that gives you the right to kill someone? I don't think so," Lt Thomas Pawlak said.
The 'man shoots teen for laughing' incident is being ruled as a homicide. Although officials say "a person of interest" has been arrested, no one has been charged.
