As MLB's top hitter has an expiring contract, Pablo Sandoval is definitely on every needy team's wish-lists. But will the San Francisco Giants want him back and re-sign him? Even before the World Series season started, the athlete's post season fate had been a subject of heated talks. But what team will acquire Sandoval's services?
Pablo Sandoval is a free agent Venezuelan professional baseball infielder. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Francisco Giants. He is a two-time All-Star and has won three World Series championships with the team. He was also named as "The Most Valuable Player" in the 2012 World Series.
Because of another spectacular World Series performance, Giants' third baseman Pablo Sandoval is in position to land a huge contract. But what team will acquire his services? As said by Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Boston Red Sox is planning on making a run at MLB's Kung Fu Panda.
However, Pablo Sandoval is also a possible prospect for St. Louis Cardinals, as reported by Belleville News Democrat. And the San Francisco Giants also desire him back, but NBC Sports said that desires guarantee nothing and signing to Red Sox has a downside, especially for players who don't get off to a good start.
So, it seemed that Sandoval is proving that he is a big money player once again as several MLB teams wanting to offer their contracts to him.
"Look, we'll do the best we can," Giants CEO Larry Baer said. "And up till now, the best we can has been to secure our guys."
San Francisco Giants Manager Brian Sabean also shared his thoughts on a possibility that the team will re-sign Pablo Sandoval if both parties will agree on the contract negotiations.
"Pablo's at the top of that list. We all know it," Sabean said. "Every negotiation is different. Every intention on the part of the player is different. I know we love Pablo and he loves the Giants and we'll see what happens."
When Pablo Sandoval was asked about his time with the Giants, he admitted his love for San Francisco, his teammates and the fans.
"I just love being under pressure and trying to doing my job," Sandoval said. "I just try to do the best I can. I do love (San Francisco). I love my teammates and the fans. They deserve this. This opportunity the Giants organization gave to me to be here, to learn the game, it's so exciting."
But both parties, the Giants and Pablo Sandoval, are still far apart in monetary and contract length, SB Nation reported. In spring, the Giants offered Sandoval a three-year, $40 million contract but was rejected by the athlete's camp, who hoped to begin negotiations nearer to Hunter Pence's five-year, $90 million deal last season.
With Pablo Sandoval's record-setting postseason, experts believed that he deserves to receive at least the same contract amount, whether with the San Francisco Giants or any other team hoping to acquire his services. But the big question is - which team will it be?
