Sharon Osbourne, the 62 year-old talk show host of The Talk recently made a statement about her 16 years of suffering from depression. She did it on her show on Monday, November 3, 2014 as she also opened the topic about Wayne Brady, a Hollywood comedian who also happens to be battling with the same disorder.
She said that there are days when she feels better but there are also days when she just doesn't want to go out and just stay in bed with the sheets covering her face and not do anything at all but crumble. She even said that there was a point in her life when she tried to cut her wrist just to prove how she loves her husband Ozzy. She has been under medication since then. But this is not the only illness that she had to deal with because in 2002, she was diagnosed to have colon cancer and later on experienced double mastectomy. All of these contributed to her depression.
Aisha Taylor who is her co-host on the show was proud on her revelation about her struggles as well as Brady's bravery for coming out in public like that with what he is going through. She said that it could be a good start for this disorder to have a solution. One must be courageous enough to accept the situation and ask help from people who cares about your wellbeing. The people who suffer from depression are the ones who don't voice it out. It is very important that you have someone to talk to about what you are experiencing with it.
She also asked Osbourne why she never spoke about it before and she answered saying nobody really asked. But at least she is over depression now and is ready to live life without worrying about it anymore.
