Another purported image of the eagerly awaited Android phone has hit the Internet this week, creating waves of anticipation among Android smartphone lovers.
Netherlands-based mobile blog GSM Helpdesk (in Dutch) has posted an image claiming it to be the anticipated smartphone, and it's an official press shot at that. The image, however, could be the real deal as the design is similar to the "leak" posted on Reddit earlier this week.
While the Korean tech giant has announced the Ice Cream Sandwich update for its best Android phone the Samsung Galaxy S2, it's the S3 that everyone's fervently waiting for.
Let's check out (once again!) the features of the Samsung Galaxy S3 that are mostly speculated as the company is still tight-lipped about the features of its much-talked about device. But if rumors are true, the latest Samsung smartphone might just prove to be fatal for all the existing and upcoming smartphones and the list includes some bigshots like the iPhone 5 (another speculated device), Nokia Lumia 900, HTC One X and others.
Speculated Features of the Galaxy S3
Display: According to various rumors, the phone will feature a stunning 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus with 1080p (can be 720p too) full HD screen, with a 3D screen (first of its class);
Quad-Core Processor: The phone will be powered with quad-core ARM A9-based Exynos 4212 chipset, 1.8GHz processor with 2GB RAM. In another claim made by BGR, a more modest 1.5GHz quad-core has been indicated.
Ice Cream Sandwich and Latest TouchWiz UI: Android's latest Ice Cream Sandwich OS will run on the device and the phone will receive the latest TouchWiz UI version 5.0.
12 MP Camera: Rumors are rife that the S3 is likely to pack a 12-megapixel rear camera, a major upgrade from the 8 megapixels in the S2. The camera will also have a 2 megapixel front-facing shooter for video chats.
4G LTE and NFC: S3 will have integrated 4G LTE support and Near Field Communication feature.
Better Battery: Galaxy S3 is predicted to come with a 2250 mAh battery.
Other features: S3 is expected to come with revolutionary wireless charging, 3D Lenticular image technology, waterproof casings and a built-in bottle opener.
While some reports, citing Samsung Greater China President Kim Young-Ha, said that the launch of the company's next Android flagship phone the Galaxy S3 may happen in April, ZDNet Korea informed that the phone will go on sale sometime in July, to tie in with Samsung's sponsorship of the Olympic Games that will kick off in London.
This information was backed by the claims made by South African network Cell C, which confirmed that the Galaxy S3 will come on various South African networks as early as June of this year.
