Oldest cheerleader charged - A former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader, who is officially recognised as the oldest cheerleader in NFL history, has been arrested in Delaware for having sexual relations with a minor.
The mother of three, Molly Shattuck, 47, who is the estranged wife of a prominent Maryland energy executive as well as being the oldest cheerleader, was charged with raping a 15 years old boy. Investigators say the teenager attends the same school as one of Shattuck's children.
On Monday, the oldest cheerleader was charged with two counts of third degree rape, four counts of unlawful sexual contact and three counts of providing minors with alcohol.
She appeared before the Sussex County Superior Court in Delaware on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Shattuck has been released on a bond of $84,000 and is expected to appear in court again on Dec. 15.
According to her Attorney Eugene Maurer, the oldest cheerleader charged is very upset about the whole incident.
"Like anybody who would be charged with an offense of this nature, she's quite distraught and dealing with it the best she can," Maurer said.
The oldest cheerleader was charged with rape after police an unidentified 15 years old boy lodged complaints with the police. The minor reportedly told Delaware officials that he and Shattuck began their incongruous relationship near Baltimore.
The teenager also alleged that over Labor Day weekend, he had sexual relations with the oldest cheerleader at a vacation home in Bethany Beach.
Delaware State Police Sgt. Paul Shavack said the Maryland residence of the cheerleader charged was search by the police following the boy's statement. Although Shavack said some items were confiscated, he refused to specify what exactly has been seized and why.
The fitness consultant and oldest cheerleader is charged with a Class B felony. If guilty she could face up to 25 years in prison.
The headmaster of the McDonogh School In Owings Mills where the teen who was raped attends has issued a statement.
The school's head Charlie Brittion said on Sep. 24th he reported the case to the police after being informed of the inappropriate relationship.
"While I was instructed by the police not to communicate with you until now because of the criminal investigation, I want you to know that the parent has been prohibited from entering McDonogh's campus and additional security measures have been in place to assure the safety of students since the incident was reported," Brittion said.
Shattuck, the oldest cheerleader in the history of the NFL, was 38 years old when she was selected by the Ravens. After cheering for two years, she was given a new role as a part time coach, where she served for about six years.
