Sarasota road rage stabbing - A Florida man has been stabbed in the face during a road rage altercation about texting and driving on Thursday afternoon at the Intersection of U.S. 41 and Bee Ridged Road.
The Sarasota road rage stabbing incident, which occurred around 3:00 p.m., began after two unidentified men got into a heated argument while driving.
Police say the pair continued exchanging words and eventually confronted each other after parking at the Paradise Plaza parking lot near the PETCO and Hallmark shop. Once there, the argument between both men escalated and they eventually started fighting.
Officials say the Sarasota road rage stabbing incident started after one of the men took out a knife started slicing the other's face several times as they fought.
"All I heard was the part about you shouldn't be texting," Pam Curtin, a witness who alerted the police revealed. "I heard a lot of profanity going on. Very loud, very animated," she noted.
Another witness Natalie Brown said prior to the Sarasota road rage stabbing incident, both drivers got out of their cars and started exchanging words.
"Next thing you know they're pushing each other, they fell on the ground were hammering each other," Brown revealed.
The victim of the Sarasota road rage stabbing is said to have sustained knife cuts to his face as well as his head. He has since been transferred by a medical helicopter to a Bayfront hospital for trauma treatment.
The Sarasota road rage stabbing suspect, who has been placed under arrest, is reported to have also suffered some injuries. Although they were minor cuts, he was reportedly taken to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
"You just don't just don't know what is happening these days, you don't know if someone has a gun or knife," Kevin Zdebiak, a Sasasota resident, told NBC's WFLA-TV.
"Things are crazier today than they were years ago," he noted.
"Getting out of your car and pulling into a parking lot to settle this, beyond stupid," he concluded.
