Keira Knightley was recently photographed topless as a form of her protest against people who pressure women to look unreal from the standard that the media has set in their minds through the use of photoshop. It is her way of encouraging women to embrace their body as they are and not mind what the public thinks is beautiful.
The photo shoot was made for Interview Magazine and was released back in August of this year but it is just now that the actress is revealing details about it. The session was shot by photographer Patrick Demarcherlier to help Knightley in her advocacy against photoshop.
She said that her body has been altered and changed by photographers for different magazines and print releases and it is about time for her to stand up for what she thinks is right. Images of perfect women and supermodels in magazines don't exactly help the women in this society because every time they see those, they are just putting more pressure in themselves to look perfect when those images are not even real to begin with.
The actress said that her motivation is not just fashion but it is definitely something more than that. She agreed to do the shoot as long as her original body parts won't be edited. She has been making some strong statements about this and a lot of people supporting feminism has been backing her up.
It all started when her photo for the King Arthur poster was manipulated to have her breast look bigger. Since then, her battle with photoshop has been made public. This is not the first time she posed naked for a magazine because back in 2006, she even made it on the cover of Vanity Fair wearing completely nothing along with Scarlett Johansson. Tom Ford was also on the cover but he was fully dressed. The designer just pointed out the pressure on both men and women in the area of sexuality.
