Myles Munroe death - Prominent pastor Myles Munroe, his wife Ruth, and seven others, have been killed after their plane crashed near the Grand Bahama International Airport on Sunday.
The international preacher and his family were reportedly aboard a private Lear 36 Jet. They had taken off from Nassasu, the Bahamian capital, on Sunday afternoon.
"The Department of Civil Aviation has been advised unofficially that the aircraft was destroyed and that there were no survivors," a statement by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation said.
Myles Munroe's death occurred after the preacher's plane crashed at the Grand Bahama Shipyard and exploded. The shipyard is located about three miles from the Freeport Airport, where the jet was scheduled to land.
Reports indicate that the renowned motivational speaker and his wife were heading to the Global Leadership Forum, which is scheduled to start on Monday. The forum is hosted by the Bahamas Faith Ministries, an organization that was founded by the late 60 years old preacher.
In light of Myles Munroe's death, the Global Leadership Forum has announced that the forum will continue as planned.
The organization said in a statement that this is what Dr. Myles Munroe would have wanted.
"Please keep his family and the ministry in prayers," a statement posted on the preacher' Facebook page said.
Besides Myles Munroe's death, the Senior Vice President and Pastor of the Bahamas Faith Ministries Fellowship Church Dr. Richard H. Pinder has been disclosed to be among those who died. The identities of the others in the crash have not been released.
Kelley Jackson, a spokeswoman for the Andrew J. Young Foundation, extended the organization's condolences to the family, church and friends following the news of Myles Munroe's death.
"Ambassador Young expresses his deep sadness over the tragic death of his friends Dr. Myles and Mrs. Ruth Munroe.
"He offers condolences to the Munroe family and the families of the other souls who
lost their lives as a result of the shocking plane crash," a statement on Facebook said.
The cause of the crash that resulted in the Myles Munroe's death has not been ascertained. An investigation is set to begin. But pundits say heavy rains, which have been felt across the entire region, may have been responsible for the crash.
