Brandon Marshall fight - What started as trash talk between loyalists of two NFL teams on Twitter this Thursday, has escalated into a highly anticipated boxing match between a professional player and a fan.
It all began when Anthony G. Kalla, 24, a Detroit Lions fan, posted a comment on Brandon Marshall's Instagram account in response to a comment the Chicago Bears' receiver had made about his team sometime back.
@BMarshall idk if you saw this on ig but here's a reminder pic.twitter.com/aHOtMdREtz

These comments obviously didn't go down well with Machine Brandon, 30, who responded with a challenge to the fan.
"I give you 5k to get in a ring with me," he tweeted. "If I lose I'll give you another 10k. If I win you have to serve a 100 hours [sic] at an orphanage."
Kalla urged the player to up the stakes to 25k. "Cmon brady make it 25 and we can do it in Detroit," he responded.
Brandon Marshall accepted the fight and added a clause that Kalla must apologize to his mom.
"@AnthonyGKalla: @BMarshall that's it? Cmon brandy make it 25 and we can do it in Detroit" 25 it is. Ha! You thought i wouldn't say yes.

Since this interaction, the Brandon Marshall fight has been making waves on the internet. The Bears' highly rated receiver tried to blow off the steam by reminding the public that the fight will be for charity.
Looks like people took my boxing match for charity too serious. #chill

This season the Bears have won 3 and lost 6 of their 9 games played, while the Lions have won 7 and lost just 2.
Kalla, in a recent interview, said the main reason for his attack to the Bears' player was because he had some unsavory comments to say about Detroit. Kalla also said that he will pull through with the Brandon Marshall fight if the player also honors the challenge. Many residents of the city have shown support for Kalla since the fight was agreed on.
Way to defend your city bro. Love it. @AnthonyGKalla @espn

"I am not scrawny," he said. "I actually work out a lot. I've never professionally boxed. I have dabbled a little bit, but never professionally and never against a man of his size."
He said he didn't really expect to win in the Brandon Marshall fight, but says he will be $25,000 richer.
Kalla's agent Chris Khemmoro told The Detroit News that the boxing match has been scheduled for Feb, 14, 2015. According to him, Kalla is set to travel to Vegas to train in Floyd Mayweather's gym for the Brandon Marshall fight.
At the moment, it is unclear if the Brandon Marshall fight will go down, but if it does, it would mark a new way of settling the persistent dispute between fans about their team's performances.
