Prince William And Duchess Kate Confirm Pre-Christmas US Trip

The Kensington Palace confirmed rumors that Prince William and pregnant Duchess Kate will be visiting the United States for a pre-Christmas trip this December. The scheduled trip to New York will be on Dec. 7 to 9 and the royal couple will attend a string of engagements.

For the first time, Prince William and Duchess Kate will travel to New York next month. The Guardian reported the royal couple's US trip include a visit to the National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center, an NBA basketball game and a gala dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

According to the British government, the US trip of the royal couple in December is in support of several wildlife charities and to promote UK business.

As part of the trip, The Telegraph UK said Prince William will travel to Washington DC for a World Bank conference to discuss a "zero tolerance" tactic on the illegal wildlife trade, while Duchess Kate stays in New York. She will be joined by New York City First Lady Chirlane McCray to visit a local child development center. The royal duchess will also attend a lunch, which will hosted by New York's British Consul General.

The trip also includes the 600th anniversary dinner of the University of Saint Andrews, where the royals have met as students. E! News said the royal couple will also attend several events on behalf of the Royal Foundation focusing on mental health and supporting disadvantaged youth issues.

In 2011, the royal couple visited the United States, during a high-profile visit to California. Meanwhile, the British Foreign Office said Prince William and Duchess Kate will attend an NBA game on the first night of their trip and is connected to a collaboration between the Royal Foundation, United for Wildlife and the NBA.

The official confirmation of the royal US trip was announced Friday. However, since the royal couple has a crammed schedule of appointments during their brief US trip, Prince George, the couple's first born child, will remain back in the UK.

While in New York, Prince William and Duchess Kate will attend a private engagement on behalf of the American Friends of the Royal Foundation. And on Dec. 9, the royal couple will visit a youth organization as well as an event celebrating all of the local British talent in the creative industries.

This month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have attended several engagements when Kate returned to do her royal responsibilities after she struggled with her extreme morning sickness caused by her second pregnancy. At this time, Duchess Kate is around 16 weeks pregnant.

Prince William and Duchess Kate's NYC visit is a first for the couple, and though both have hectic schedules, their US trip will definitely be a memorable one.
