Mom Edmonds shoots intruder - A Washington mother of three has shot a man who was trying to break into her house in the middle of the night on Thursday.
According to the Edmonds Police Department, the Mom Edmonds shoots intruder incident happened around 3:15 a.m. "There were kids in the house, so she was protecting herself and she was scared and so she was doing what she could to protect her family," Sgt Bob Barker said.
The 33-year-old mother, whose identity has not been disclosed, is said to have woken up to the sound of someone pounding her front door.
Sgt. Barker said the woman initially opened the door because she thought it was someone she knew, but upon realizing that the man was a stranger she tried to shut the door. But the man refused and a struggle ensued between them. The struggle eventually ends as Mom Edmonds shoots intruder.
According to local sources, the woman had called 911 and armed her self when she first woke up to the unusually pounding on the door at that odd time of the day. Upon realizing that she was being overpowered by the intruder, Mom Edmonds shoots intruder.
Police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and found the suspect in front of the woman's house with a single gun shot wound to the abdomen. Reports indicate that the suspect was given emergency first aid by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Authorities have not disclosed the name of the suspect at the center of the Mom Edmonds shoots intruder incident. But he is reportedly recovering in the hospital.
An investigation into the incident has been opened. Police say, the suspect, who they found to be reeking of alcohol, may have known someone who lived in the same house before. Or He may have been drunk and mistook the house for another. The intruder was not armed.
The woman at the center of the Mom Edmonds shoots intruder incident successfully protected her family. Neither her husband nor their three children and others in the house were harmed during the break-in.
