Kosta Karageorge - The search for a missing Ohio State senior defensive player is growing in intensity as his family and friends continue to look for him in campus and Grandview Heights, where a signal from his cell phone has been traced.
Kosta Karageorge was reported missing on Thursday by his family. According to his sister, Sofia Karageorge, he was last seen by roommates in his apartment in Columbus on Wednesday at 2 a.m.
The 22-year-old, who has also wrestled for the Buckeyes, is reported to have gone for a walk. He did not take his wallet and walked on foot. Reports indicate that Kosta Karageorge may have been upset that night.
"He had some extenuating circumstances that night that lead us to believe he was upset," Sofia told The Columbus Dispatch.
His mother Susan told Columbus police that she received a text message from her son about thirty minutes before he went for a walk on Wednesday.
"I am sorry if I am an embarrassment," he wrote, "but these concussions have my head all f---ed up."
Kosta Karageorge is reported to have suffered from a series of sport-related injuries, particularly concussions. But Sofia says he has been well cared for by the team. Nonetheless, his family fears the delayed effects of the repeated knocks to the head could have finally caught up with him and he may be disoriented.
"We're very concerned that he's not himself and that he maybe doesn't know what's going on," Sofia said.
Kosta Karageorge is one of the seniors set to be honored before his team's final home game against Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. He was reported missing after he failed to show up for training on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
The Ohio State football team spokesman Jerry Emig, who acknowledged being aware of the disappearance of Kosta Karageorge, declined to comment on the matter.
Kosta Karageorge had played just one game for the team this season. But he is reported to have also been an active member of the school's wrestling team for the past three years.
