Westfield Annapolis scuffle - As customers trooped to malls across the U.S. scouring for the best Black Friday deals, many resorted to fighting for their desired items. Reports indicate that around 4 p.m. on Black Friday, shoppers in the Westfield Annapolis Mall had to duck and run cover after a fight broke out involving a suspected shooting.
Anne Arundel County Police, who responded to distress calls from the mall, say no one was shot. Authorities also said no guns were found and that no shots were fired.
Two juveniles were arrested for the Westfield Annapolis scuffle. Police said the youngsters were fighting in the food court and accidentally turned tables over, which sent loud bangs across the mall. Officials have not disclosed what the boys were fighting over.
The mall was reportedly reopened shortly after cops quelled the Westfield Annapolis scuffle. Fears quickly disappeared as customers resumed to hunting for the best Black Friday deals.
There were several other cases similar to the Westfield Annapolis scuffle involving injuries and arrests across the U.S. on Black Friday.
NYPD reports indicate that a father was arrested in Central Valley after leaving his two children in a hotel room while he went shopping on Black Friday. The father, identified as Toru Sakaguchi, was apprehended after cops found his four-year-old son loitering around the hallway of the Hampton Inn at 4 a.m.
The child reportedly led the cops back to the family's lodging, where his 11-year-old handicapped sister was found. Sakaguchi explained that he left his kids alone at 3 a.m., in order to pick his wife who went shopping. He added that after arriving at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, he had to wait for an hour because his wife was still shopping.
Sakaguchi has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He is due in court on the 10th of December.
Commentators say despite many cases of customers raising chaos during the Black Friday shopping rush, this year's event was relatively quiet. Reports indicate that many customers chose to take advantage of the best bargains on Black Friday deals online via the internet.
