"Miss World" 2014 Winner Update - The highly-anticipated pageant of the year, the 64th "Miss World" coronation is almost here. It will be held on Dec. 14, 2014 at ExCel London in London, United Kingdom. While over 100 contestants from all over the world are competing for the crown, the organization recently revealed the Top Ten People's Choice list.
On the organization's official Facebook page, candidates from Australia, Barbados, Chad, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, South Africa and Thailand were ranked on the Top Ten People's Choice list. By using the "Miss World" 2014 App, one can vote for their favored candidate to be the winner. International Business Times UK said the app can be downloaded for free through Apple's iStore and Google Play Store.
Before a "Miss World" 2014 winner will be announced, the finalists have to endure the elimination round challenges for six distinct awards. It comprised the Beach Fashion, "Beauty with a Purpose" presentations, Sports and Fitness, Top Model, Talent Showdown and the "World Fashion Designer" Award.
"The winner of the People's Choice Award is announced during the latter stages of the Miss World Final, and the winner, if she is not already selected, will join the final few contestants on stage," as written on the pageant's official Web site. "These contestants will then face the judges' questions before the winner of Miss World 2014 is announced!"
The "Miss World" pageant started back in London more than six decades ago. The contest was born in a period before feminism went mainstream. This 2014, The Daily Mail reported 125 women from all over the world are taking part in the contest to vie for the crown.
Meanwhile, the "Miss World" 2014 competition has been struck by tragedy, with Miss Honduras' Maria Jose Alvarado, and her sister found murdered in Honduras days before the pageant, Wales Online reported.
Aside from the Top Ten People's Choice, "Miss World" 2014 Top Model Top 20 were also announced. And the "Miss World Fashion Designer" Award winner is Koyal Rana of India, while Ellie McKeating of Scotland and Dhio Moreno Romero of Dominican Republic were second and third runners-up respectively.
The pageant's "Beauty with a Purpose" has raised hundreds of millions of pounds for local and international organizations in aid of disadvantaged children globally. At the "Miss World" 2014 coronation, reigning winner Megan Young of the Philippines will crown her next successor.
