Vladimir Klitschko's next opponent has been named.
"Dr. Steelhammer", who holds the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO, and The Ring Magazine world heavyweight titles is slated to face young gun Tyson Fury sometime in the coming year.
Fury's upcoming clash against the Kazakh boxing legend was put in place after dominantly beating fellow British pugilist Dereck Chisora via tenth round stoppage during their rematch on Saturday night at the ExCel Arena in London.
All throughout the fight, it was Fury who dictated the pace of the action through combination punching, while switching his stances to confuse his opponent. While Chisora managed to land his own variety of power punches during the eighth round, it was not enough rattle Fury, who in turn, lashed out with left hands during the succeeding round.
The bout was put to a halt at 1:15 mark of the tenth round, earning Fury his 23rd career victory, his 17th by stoppage, along with two more European boxing heavyweight titles.
In a report by The Telegraph, promoter Frank Warren advised Chisora's trainer Don Charles to throw in the towel upon seeing the Londoner's face badly beaten up.
"I told Don to stop the fight after the 10th round, as it was quite apparent there'd be no change in the way things were going," Warren said. "His jab was non-existent and he couldn't cope with Fury's height and size."
The 26-year old Fury, who was rightfully elated by the manner of how he finished off Chisora, believes he has done enough to earn a shot at the 38-year old Klitschko. And while it was reported that he had his own apprehensions in facing "Dr. Steelhammer," he is now more confident that he can put on the same performance.
"I'm proud of my performance and there's still plenty more to come," Fury exclaimed. "Klitschko I'm coming for you baby, I'm coming to get you."
With the victory, Tyson Fury keeps an unblemished record of 23-0, with 17 wins by stoppage, while Dereck Chisora drops to a record of 20-5, with 13 wins by knockout.
