Scarlett Johansson secretly married French journalist Romain Duraic on Oct. 1 in Philsburg, Montana, People reported.
Rumors about the secret marriage started earlier this month when Johansson was seen wearing a supposed wedding ring in a fundraising event. There was no confirmation about the news until a Granite County public records clerk from Montana confirmed to People on Monday.
The couple is silent about the wedding details, however, a source told Page Six about the event:
"Scarlett and Romain were married in a very intimate ceremony after the birth of their daughter. They kept the wedding a big secret because they both wanted privacy."
The source added that the couple chose a concealed place for the event, away from Hollywood and the actress' hometown New York.
On Monday, the newlyweds attended the Gotham Awards in New York. Guests confirmed that they were very affectionate with each other and the actress looked great.
"Scarlett is introducing Romain to everyone as her husband - she's also showing baby photos of their daughter Rose to people. She looks radiant and very, very happy and both are wearing wedding bands," the guest said, according to Page Six.
Even at the start of their relationship in 2012, the pair made sure to maintain their privacy. They only go out at night and avoid photographers. While on a date in Venice, Johansson donned a baseball cap while Dauriac wore sunglasses for cover up, Daily Mail reported.
In addition, neither of the two is active in social media to keep the relationship away from the spotlight. The actress explained her views in the May issue of Marie Claire magazine:
"All of it drives me crazy. I don't understand this need to share. We almost exploit ourselves in order to be seen."
Meanwhile, Johansson's next project is another sequel to the "Avengers" coming up in May 2015.
