Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green is expected to be one of the hottest names on the trading front, as teams start to make their moves to fill void in the lineup. According to sources, there are three teams that could potentially inquire for his service: the Houston Rockets, Charlotte Hornets and the Detroit Pistons.
Green, who is averaging 18.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Celtics this season, has been the subject of trade chatter for the past two years, but analysts believes this will be the year he will be dealt out of Beantown as the Celtics try to speed up their rebuilding efforts.
For a 6-foot-9 player that can play both forward position and shot a career 34 percent from the three-point line, Green is pretty intriguing trade option for any NBA team, especially for contenders.
But most of analysts believe, the Rockets, Hornets & the Pistons are the most likely trade destinations for Green because of these teams are capable of pleasing Celtics GM Danny Ainge with an interesting trade package.
The Rockets, who are in the thick of a very competitive Western Conference carnage, has been looking for the wheel since the offseason. The Rockets could send talented young forwards like Terrence Jones and Donatas Motiejunas for the service of Green, who will certainly provide them with the floor spacing they need for Dwight Howard to operate inside.
Another trade options is dealing Green to the Hornets in exchange for either shooting guard Lance Stephenson or one of their young forwards like Cody Zeller and Noah Vonleh, whom scouts consider a very crafty big man with star potential. The Hornets are in need of help, particularly at the small forward and forward position, and Green appears to be the guy the team is looking for.
"You could see them making calls on a number of potentially available wings: Randy Foye or Wilson Chandler in the Denver overflow pile; Jeff Green in Boston, capable of swinging between both forward positions," according to Grantland's Zach Lowe
Lastly, the Detroit Pistons might also try to snare Green in exchange for floor-spacing problem Josh Smith. Pistons coach and top front-office executive Stan Van Gundy already admitted that he's in dilemma on how to fix his roster, triggering speculations that he's on the brink of pulling off a big deal with getting Smith on top of his list.
