Andre 3000 sellout - Andre Benjamin, popularly known as Andre 3000, one-half of the legendary Hip Hop group Outkast, has revealed that he felt like a sellout during the group's recently ended 20th anniversary tour.
The Andre 3000 sellout statement was made during an interview with electronic artist Nicolas Jaar for The Fader. The talented rapper admitted that he hesitated before agreeing to be a part of the reunion tour.
"I felt weird about going out on stage and doing it again," Andre 3000 said. "I felt like people would be like, 'Y' all are doing all these festivals, y'all are just doing it for money.' And I felt like a sell-out, honestly. So I was like, if I'm in on the joke. I'll feel cool about it."
Andre 3000's idea of feeling cool about the tour and reuniting on stage with Big Boi, who he has not shared a stage with in nearly a decade, was wearing customized jumpsuits.
The multi-talented musician and actor said the jumpsuits are being exhibited at the Savannah College of Art and Design. The exhibition is set to run till December 14th. Andre said as a teen he had plans of studying at SCAD before he started rapping and dropped the idea.
The jumpsuits feature words, like SOLD and Art or Fart. Others include more social and thought provoking statements Across cultures, darker people suffer most. why? as well as I've never been to Africa.
In the Andre 3000 sellout statement, the rapper, who played Jimi Hendrix in a recent movie Jimi: All by my Side, said he did not intend to wear the jumpsuits at first.
"I didn't start the tour like, Yeah, I'm gonna do all of these suits," he said. "It was a decision, I'm 39, I got a 17-year-old kid, and I gotta support certain things. And my partner Big Boi is like, "This is a great thing for all of us." So I felt there was a certain sell-out in a way, because I didn't wanna do it - I knew I was doing it for a reason. So maybe id I'm telling people, I' am selling out,' then it's not as bad as pretending."
The Andre 3000 sellout statement has made headlines. The multi-talented artist, who is recognized as one of the most unique Hip Hop musicians, has a net worth $45 million.
