David Ortiz-Alex Rodriguez Feud: Is Reconciliation Possible After Year-Long Rift?

Famous MLB stars David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez have maintained an amicable relationship despite playing for American league rivals, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. However, both players have not been in speaking terms since January. The fall out came after A-Rod's lawyer, Joe Tacopina commented on an ESPN radio interview about PED (Performance-Enhancing Drugs) use in baseball.

"I'm not going to start naming all the other players, but some of them are God-like in Boston right now, and people seem to forget that." Tacopina said during his radio interview.

Almost a year later after the comment was made, David Ortiz revealed that he got angry and that he haven't talked to Alex Rodriguez.

"I was angry," Ortiz said Thursday of the lawyer's comment. "I haven't talked to him since."

Since getting on different paths, the once good friends David Ortiz and Alex Rodriquez are apparently not on a sociable track anymore. While 39-year-old Ortiz and the Red Sox appeared dominant after a busy winter, NJ.com said 40-year-old A-Rod is attempting to return to the Yankees after a year-away from the sport.

Earlier this year, New York Yankees third baseman, Alex Rodriguez was suspended in the league because of his role in the Biogenesis scandal. And as A-Rod is about to make his baseball comeback, MSN Sports reported David Ortiz never gave any negative comments but instead just wished his former pal the best.

"We'll see what happens, I wish him the best," Ortiz said. "We'll see how strong he can come back and do his thing."

The interview with David Ortiz was done at his annual Celebrity Golf Classic, an event that raises money for Ortiz Children's Fund that gives children in need access to critical care. According to The New York Post, Alex Rodriguez used to attend the event and was even one of the players who supported the affair last December.

As his old pal making a return after the suspension, Ortiz fondly known as Big Papi said A-Rod will face a tough challenge.

"I've seen players taking a year off and it's fine, you get away with it, but at our age, taking a year off is not the easiest thing for you to come back and be at the highest level when the last year he played [2013] wasn't all there because of injury, so we'll see what happens," Ortiz bluntly stated.

With Alex Rodriguez prepping up again for the 2015 Yankees games, Fox Sports said the April meeting between the two teams might be a good chance for a possible reconciliation between A-Rod and David Ortiz, unless both will play in one of two Yankees-Red Sox spring drill playoffs in March.
