Russian roulette Indiana - A 17-year-old boy has inadvertently killed himself this past Thursday as he attempted to initiate a game of Russian roulette with some friends.
Leroy Young of Kokomo High School was pronounced dead on the scene after frantic efforts to resuscitate him proved futile.
According to the Miami County Sheriff's Office, a 911 call came through sometime before midnight on Thursday about a teenager who had shot himself in Galveston, Kokomo. Law enforcement officers and medics rushed to the address, but found it was too late to save the teen.
Reports indicate that Young and several other teenagers were invited to the home of a friend, apparently to spend the night, when the Indiana Russian roulette accident occurred. While they were playing video games, Young is reported to have produced a pistol, which was loaded with a single bullet.
Eyewitnesses told police that the teenager was waving the gun around dangerously before he placed it on his head and proceeded to squeeze the trigger. The Russian roulette game between the Indiana teens ended abruptly as Young fell to the ground dead.
According to Kokomo Tribune, people present at the scene had tried to save Young before the cops and medics arrived, but to no avail. It is unclear how many teenagers were present during the Indiana Russian roulette accident and if there was an adult in the house. It is also unclear where the gun at the center of the Indiana Russian roulette accident came from and if it is registered.
WWLP-22 News reports that an investigation has been opened into the Indiana Russian roulette incident by the Miami County Sheriff's Office, the Miami County Coroner's Office and the Indiana State Police. Miami County Sheriff Tom Miller, who spoke to the press, said it was too still early in the investigation to make any conclusions.
Meanwhile, in light of the Indiana Russian roulette accident, officials at Kokomo High School, where the victim attended, have provided counselors for students. Young was reportedly well known in the school.
