On Monday night, Prince William and Kate Middleton watched their first-ever Nets game in New York City. The Royal basketball game invasion took place amidst ongoing anti-police brutality protests in the Big Apple. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were welcomed at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
At their first NBA game, William and Kate watched famous basketball star LeBron "King" James and the Cleveland Cavaliers as they defeated the Brooklyn Nets. As reported by The Guardian, the royal couple also met one of America's power couple, Beyoncé and Jay Z, during the game.

William and Kate's Nets game is part of their 3-day NYC trip. According to CNN, the British royals' arrival on Sunday marked their first visit to the Big Apple. On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge experienced the American royal treatment.
Though the British royals got a look at the ongoing anti-police brutality protests, they also received cheers from screaming New Yorkers on the streets upon their arrival. They also had a meeting with US President Barack Obama and former US First Lady Hilary Clinton. The royal couple also met LeBron James, Jay Z and Beyoncé.
As part of the royal couple's NYC visit, Kate was greeted with screams as she arrived at Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem. The pregnant duchess was also welcomed by NYC's first lady Chirlane McCray amid the very tight security. While the duke traveled to Washington for a quick visit with President Obama at the White House.

Before William and Kate's Nets game, the royal prince spoke at a World Bank session about the need for a global effort to stop illegal wildlife trading. On Monday night, the British royals also attended a reception organized by the Royal Foundation in appreciation of the conservation work carried out by Tusk Trust and United for Wildlife partners, including the Wildlife Conservation Society, Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy.

After the royals' hectic schedule, William and Kate finally made it to the Barclays Center for a game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yahoo! News reported the British royals bumped into music royals Beyoncé and Jay Z, who used to be Nets' part owners.
After an attendance at a Nets game, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the Sept. 11 memorial on Tuesday morning. Despite the royals' busy NYC trip's first day and the freezing rain, the couple laid flowers at the memorial where 67 British national had died in the World Trade Center attack.

At the Nets game, fans were reportedly taking pictures of William and Kate instead of watching the game, Us Weekly reported. Meanwhile, the White House said the NYC visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge highlighted "the special relationship" between the United States and the United Kingdom.
