Samuel L. Jackson is looking to celebrities that took part in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to support a new cause, the "I Can't Breathe" protests that is currently being held in honor of the two African-American youths who were killed by the police, Michael Brown and Erica Garner, USA Today reported.
Jackson called out all the celebrities from the Ice Bucket Challenge in a video he posted on his official Facebook account. The video, captioned "Seeking more singers!!" is a challenge to them all to sing the "We ain't gonna stop, til people are free" song.
It was a song inspired by Brown, who was shot and killed by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, and Gardner, who was choked to death by New York City officer Daniel Panteleo. In both cases, none of the cops were indicted by grand juries, which sparked outrage throughout the country.
Jackson himself sung in the video and viewers can hear the words "I can hear my neighbor cryin' 'I can't breathe' / Now I'm in the struggle and I can't leave / Calling out the violence of the racist police / We ain't gonna stop til people are free."
"Come on," Jackson said in the vide. "Sing it out."
Jackson is not the first to use the Ice Bucket Challenge as a way to prompt action concerning the violence of the police, as fellow actor Orlando Jones posted a video of his own, this time with a bucket full of bullet casings, according to Jezebel.
In his Bullet Bucket Challenge video, Jones poured the casings over himself and talked about Brown's shooting in Ferguson. He said the issue was not about "black or white" or "rich or poor," rather it was an "us versus them."
"There are more of us from all races, genders and identities than there will ever be of them," Jones said. "And we will be victorious."
