The "Divergent Series: Insurgent" official trailer has been released and disappointed some fans, International Business Times reported.
"Divergent Series: Insurgent" official trailer was published on Friday and gained mixed reactions. Fans say it deviated from the novels.
The "Insurgent" trailer opens with Kate Winslet talking about a mysterious box and branding it as "the future our people deserve." Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort's characters discuss the special box. A series of events unfold in order to protect the mysterious box.
Before the trailer ends, a caption says: "What sets her apart will set the world free." Woodley is seen fighting against herself in a virtual room operated by Winslet.
The trailer revolved around the mysterious object but fans are disappointed since the novel by Veronica Roth did not feature any box. The "Divergent" series is based on Roth's trilogy and has gained worldwide followers even before the movie adaptation.
Devoted fans expressed their dismay on Twitter that the movie might have strayed away from the original books, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fiona Pinkman wrote: "I need to re-read #Insurgent because that trailer confused the hell out of me. Was there a mystery box in the book? Is my memory that bad?"
Mockingjay Killed commented: "NOT HAPPY WITH THE INSURGENT TRAILER THEY CHANGED SO MUCH... WHATS UP WITH THAT BOX THING??? ONCE AGAIN ANOTHER SERIES RUINED."
Woodley has previously discussed the third installment as something different from the first two films.
"One thing about doing this movie that feels different from the first one is that felt very mathematical. The dialogue had a certain rhythm to it so there wasn't a lot of room for changing it up. In this movie, we're adding a lot of smaller beats to the scenes that aren't necessarily on the page," Woodlye said, The Youth Health Mag reported.
Although, book readers are disappointed with the story change, followers of the movie series were impressed with the clip. Some fans said they watched the action-packed teaser several times. The trailer has reached over two million views.
The "Divergent Series: Insurgent" will open in theatres on March 20, 2015.
