Ricardo Alekzander Lara - Authorities in Texas have issued an Amber Alert for a 4-year-old boy after his mother was discovered murdered and his father missing.
Denton Police Department issued the alert on Saturday and announced that the child Ricardo Alekzander Lara is believed to be in grave danger.
"Obviously the longer the time period grows, the less likely you're going to find the child in good shape, considering it's a possibility the child has been kidnapped that raises your concerns," Denton Police officer Shane Kizer said.
Police say the child's biological father, 33-year-old Ricardo Lara Martinez, is suspected to have murdered the child's mother Maria Isabel Romero. Martinez has since been named as a person of interest in the disappearance of Ricardo Alekzander Lara.
Local sources say the corpse of the 27-year-old woman was discovered on Sunday morning after a customer tried to enter her place of work but found the door locked. A co-worker, who responded to the customer, entered the building and found Maria's body.
According to detectives, distress calls were received on Saturday evening from the Sanchez Insurance and Tax office building in Denton.
Martinez is suspected of killing Maria and kidnapping little Ricardo Alekzander Lara. Authorities have refused to release information about how Maria was murdered or what the motives were.
Police say preliminary investigations indicate that that Maria and Martinez were in a custody battle over little Ricardo Alekzander Lara.
"We're understanding the mother was possibly looking to terminate his rights to be a parent to the child," Kizer said. "We're still looking into that."
Officials have described the suspect as a 5 feet, 5 inches tall Hispanic male, who weighs about 150 pounds. Authorities could not confirm what color of clothes he was wearing. And no information on the type of vehicle he is driving was given.
However, police say little Ricardo Alekzander Lara is 3 feet tall and weighs about 55 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Officials suspect that the boy may have been wearing a blue shirt and shorts at the time he was abducted.
Police have revealed that on Sunday somebody reported seeing Ricardo Alekzander Lara and his father at a Houston store.
Investigators say that Martinez has connections in Springfield, MO, Chicago and Mexico City. Anyone with information regarding Ricardo Alekzander Lara's disappearance should call the Denton Police Department on (940)-349-7919.
