Thierry Henry Trades Arsenal Jersey For A Suit? Announces Retirement On Facebook

Thierry Henry is believed to be trading his Arsenal jersey for a suit to take up an executive position with Sky Sports. The transition came after the 37-year-old football superstar announced his retirement from professional football on Facebook. Thierry previously played on Arsenal, Barcelona and France, with a most recent stint on New York Red Bulls.

The best years of Thierry Henry's career came in an Arsenal jersey, where he became the club's all-time record goal-scorer with 226 goals in 369 competitive appearances. According to ABC, he also played for France scoring 51 goals in 123 matches. However, after his much-hailed professional football career, the former France striker decided to retire.

"After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football," Henry said on his official Facebook page. "It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, team mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and of course the French National Team that have made my time in the game so special."

Thierry Henry, who's definitely the greatest player to have ever worn an Arsenal jersey, has finally decided to conclude his legendary football career for a stint with Sky Sports. The Bleacher Report said his retirement was announced Tuesday, while Sky Sports confirmed and announced the former striker to join the network in 2015 through a Twitter post.

According to Sky Sports, Thierry Henry will trade his Arsenal jersey for a suit and tie as he joins the network as a football expert and ambassador working across Sky Sports' unparalleled football schedule.

Meanwhile, Henry also expressed his sentiments about his sudden change of career path.

"It is now time for a different career path and I am pleased to say that I will be returning to London and joining Sky Sports," Henry said. "I will hopefully share some of the insights, observations and experiences I have learnt over the years with you guys. I have had some amazing memories (mostly good!) and a wonderful experience. I hope you have enjoyed watching as much as I have enjoyed taking part. See you on the other side..."

Henry's decision to retire from professional football will take effect immediately, as reported by Goal. Though the former striker had yet to make a final decision on his future, but for now, it is quite clear that Thierry Henry will no longer be seen wearing his Arsenal jersey as he will begin his work with Sky Sports.

Although Thierry Henry ditched his Arsenal jersey, his legacy and influence as a football legend will always be remembered, proof to that is his statue outside the Emirates Stadium, which recognizes his contributions as an inspiration in the world of football.
