Whitney Houston's mother, Cissy, broke her silence and spoke for the first time about her daughter's death and the rumors surrounding her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.
In an exclusive interview with My 9, Cissy Houston said that she is very proud of what her daughter accomplished in her short life.
Houston died in a bathtub in a hotel suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Feb. 11. She was 48 years old. Her death has been ruled accidental, but Los Angeles County Coroner officials said that cocaine and heart disease were among the contributing factors in the singer's death.
Houston's final autopsy report was released on Wednesday, and officials stated that the singer had cocaine throughout her system. Detectives have also said that they found white powdery substances along with a spoon with white residue in her hotel room.
"Located in the top drawer, in the north side of the counter were remnants of a white powdery substance, and a portable mirror on a base," TMZ quoted the report. (Read the report below.)
I Don't Blame Me
Cissy Houston conducted the interview with My 9 at the New Hope Baptist Church. It's her daughter's childhood church and the venue for Whitney Houston's funeral.
"If I could do something to bring her back that is exactly what I'd do, but I know that's impossible," Cissy Houston said in the interview with My 9. "I don't blame me for anything because I know I did the best I could for everything."
When asked if there was anything she could have done differently, Cissy Houston said "not really."
"My children are my whole life," she said. "She was very special to me. She was my only daughter and a good one. She looked after her family."
Cissy Houston didn't say much about the night her daughter died. Neither did she tell My 9 about how she found out about Whitney Houston's death.
Cissy Devastated
TMZ reported that Cissy Houston is "devastated" and "inconsolable" over the findings in the L.A. County Coroner's Autopsy Report. According to the celebrity news website, Cissy Houston cried hysterically when she first learned from the coroner's findings about the white powder, a drug spoon and more.
The website claims that Whitney Houston's mother now fears that her daughter will be remembered as a druggie, and not for her talent and more.
The Media is Awful
Cissy Houston is not pleased about how her daughter's death was covered in the media. She is also not too pleased about some of the sources that have since come forward after Whitney Houston died.
"The media is awful," Cissy Houston said. "People have come from here and there and don't know what they are talking about -- people who I haven't seen in 20 years. Here they come; think they know everything, but that is not true.
"These people don't know anything about her," she added. "All they know is what they hear. She has had her ups and downs. Like who hasn't?"
Cissy Houston, who is still grieving her daughter's death, said they "chopped" Whitney Houston and kept at it.
"One time I had thought about coming on really socking, but I know my temper and I'm going to let them say and think what they want to say," Cissy Houston told My 9. "I just hope they never come and say it to me."
Bobbi Kristina Brown Rumors
Immediately after Whitney Houston died, her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown was also thrown into the spotlight. Bobbi Kristina was rushed to the hospital the day after her mother's death. The media reported that she suffered stress and anxiety.
In the weeks that followed there were also reports that Bobbi Kristina was allegedly on drugs and allegedly dating her unofficially adopted brother, Nick Gordon. Reports were that Cissy Houston is not too pleased about the alleged affair between her granddaughter and Whitney Houston's "adopted" son.
Though all those things are still just rumors, Cissy Houston told My 9 that, "I don't look at that mess."
With regards to the rumor that Whitney Houston died broke, her mother said, "She is not broke. She is not anything. None of that crap."
Still, through it all, Cissy Houston said she is good, but no more courageous than anyone else.
"Believe me when I tell you. I have my moments. I am not there yet," Cissy Houston told My 9. "I haven't gotten angry yet. I might."
And when it comes to the memories of her daughter, Cissy Houston said, "She was so beautiful. She had it all."
