Cameron Diaz is reportedly engaged! Though reports were neither confirmed nor denied, it seemed the 42-year-old actress will be getting married soon. But what changed Diaz's thoughts on marriage and having a family?
Cameron Diaz's engagement may come as a surprise to those who are following the actress. Earlier this year, she candidly revealed in an interview with Marie Claire that she's not looking for a husband or marriage. She also expressed that she is not necessarily planning for a family.
"I'm not looking for a husband or marriage or not looking for that stuff," Cameron Diaz said. "I'm living, not thinking what I should or shouldn't be doing with my life."
"If a family happens, then it happens," she added. "If children come to me, then I would do that, but I'm not someone who feels like she has to do something because it's expected."
Additionally, Cameron Diaz also revealed her thoughts on having a happy relationship. Though she did not confirm that she is engaged, she told Cosmopolitan that "timing" is the secret that makes relationship works.
"You have to find someone in the same place as you are," Diaz explained. "Timing is everything. If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn't want, it's never gonna work. You're never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who's in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period."
Meanwhile, sources are telling Us Weekly that Cameron Diaz is engaged to 35-year-old Good Charlotte member Benji Madden. In an E! News report, Diaz and Madden have been dating for seven months. In May, the couple first publicly stepped out together, however, engagement rumors spread after the "Annie" actress wore a diamond-crusted ring on her engagement finger at a Hollywood Costume Luncheon in October.
Before the engagement rumors, Cameron Diaz has already expressed her desire on not wanting to have children, but sources claimed that she wanted babies with Benji Madden.
"She really doesn't care about getting married but wants babies," a source told Us Weekly. "He wants to get engaged and married first."
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's reps have not yet confirmed if the couple is indeed engaged. According to Hello magazine, the couple is set to tie the knot on early 2015.
Cameron Diaz's engagement seemed to have proven that she has finally found the perfect man to finally settle down with. But will Cameron finally make an exception and go down the traditional path of getting married and starting a family?
