'The Walking Dead' Cast Update: Norman Reedus Confirms ‘Boondock Saints 3’

A sequel for "Boondock Saints" is in the works, according to the Inquisitr

"Boondock Saints 3" is in the planning stage. The original film debuted in 1999 and starred Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flannery. Reedus has confirmed that a sequel is coming up.

"The Walking Dead" star was asked about the "Boondock Saints 3" at Reddit's Ask Me Anything.

"[Hey], good morning. [Yeah] its on, in the works, happening. [Sean] would be great on the show, he's a real life ninja," Reedus replied.

Writer and director Troy Duffy has also revealed the plot for the third installment.

"The movie will show legions of people taking the law into their own hands and following in the footsteps of the now famous brothers from Ireland," Duffy said.

"The Boondock Saints 3: Legion" is the rumored title of the sequel. The previous movies revolved around the lives of two brothers played by Reedus and Flannery, who decided that killing mafia members is God's will.

The original "Boondock Saints" was criticized and branded as "an ugly Quentin Tarantino ripoff," however, it gained loyal followers, who made the film a success in home video market. "The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" was released 10 years after the original. The film earned $30,471,000 in box office and achieved huge sales in home video market as well, according to Cinema Blend.

Duffy was asked why it took so long to decide for a third film.

"It's taken a while. Boondock 3 has taken a while. It's because I want to get it right so I can't blame fans for asking us the same question," the director replied.

Although it took several years before a sequel was planned, people think it is very timely. Reedus has gained a huge fan base when he started to portray as Daryl Dixon in the highly successful "The Walking Dead" series.

The actor's loyal followers will be a great addition to the "Boondock Saints" audience. It will not be a surprise if Reedus gains more films after this.

Since the sequel is still in the works, fans can still catch Reedus as "The Walking Dead" returns on Feb. 8, 2015.
