Amy Adams: Actress Speaks Out After NBC Execs Cancel Her Appearance Over Sony Hack

Amy Adams - Actress Amy Adams has expressed her confusion and frustration after NBC executives canceled her interview on the Today show just minutes before it was scheduled to air on Monday.

Reports indicate that the 40-year-old was set to do a short interview on the show at 9:00 a.m. to promote her new film Big Eyes when the incident occurred.

"I can just only see this as some strange, blown-out-of-proportion miscommunication. It's hard to understand how these things happen," the Oscar nominee said on Tuesday at the screening of Big Eyes.

Amy Adam's interview segment was scrapped after the producers of the Today show told the actress that they would ask her questions about the Sony Hack to which she expressed her unwillingness to add her voice to the cyber controversy.

"I was very uncomfortable speaking about it (the Sony hack issue) and I still, even with you, don't want to lend my voice to that conversation. And that's still my stance."

The actress said after the brief chat with the producers she went back to her room expecting the interview to on as planned.

"I walked away from the conversation and went up to my room to do the interview. I assumed they were going to ask me about [the hack], and I was prepared for that, to whatever degree I was prepared.

However, minutes later, she was informed that the interview and her appearance has been canceled. "I was confused and definitely frustrated," she said. "I still don't understand.'

The Today show released a statement explaining the incident. "As a news program, the Today show doesn't allow guests to dictate restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview."

Amy Adams is only involved in the Sony Hack mess because hackers released confidential emails that revealed her salary and role in Sony's film American Hustle which she starred in last year.

"My issue was that we only has four minutes and I wanted to stay focused on the film, and I just asked if they would not ask the question and they said, 'No, they would not (agree)'. I was actually up on the stage when they pulled the interview. But I had already agreed to what they said and I just said 'well OK I will say no comment' and that had been my plan."

Reports also indicate that Weinstein Co., distributors of Big Eyes has expressed support for Amy Adams' stance.
