"Downtown Abbey" had a love filled holiday episode, Telegraph reported.
A surprise marriage proposal for the head housekeeper Mrs. Hughes from the butler Carson was the most romantic scene from the love filled episode. The finale for the Christmas special featured Carson proposing to Mrs. Hughes.
"Take your time to decide but know that I'm not marrying anyone else," Carson said.
The butler asked his beloved if she was offended by the proposal.
"Oh Mr Carson I can assure the very last thing in the world that I am in this moment is offended," Mrs. Hughes replied.
The pair poured a drink and made a toast to celebrate. It took some time for the butler to pop the question but of course, Mrs. Hughes said yes, Daily Mail reported.
At the start of the episode, the couple looked for a cottage but the housekeeper declared she does not have the funds. Carson decided to buy a house so they can live in it as husband and wife.
From one couple to another, Anna and Bates received good news when she was released from jail and he gained and alibi for murder. Anna seemed sad due to the fact that she was molested a child. A smile was painted on Ana's lips as she sneaked out with her husband for a quick kiss.
Meanwhile, the Crawley family went on a trip to join the shooting party hosted by Rose and the Sinderbys at the Brancaster Castle. At the event, the Sinderbys' head butler Stowell refused to serve Tom Branson probably because he heard he was a former chauffer. Stowell also disrespected Thomas Barrow by asking him to work as a temporary footman and valet.
Lady Mary Crawley noticed Stowell's attitude and planned to take down the butler by arranging a fake dinner time invitation supposedly from the Sinderbys. Lord Sinderby scolded the butler after discovering the wrong information about dinner time.
To their surprise, an uninvited guest named Diane Clark arrived at the castle with Lord Sinderby's young son. Lady Rose saved the day and pretended that Diane is her friend. As a response to her daughter in law, Lord Sinderby made sure she is welcome in the family.
Love is in the air as Lady Mary was introduced to potential suitor Talbot. She was repulsed by the man at the start but her mood quickly changed when she learned that Talbot drove fast cars.
Back at home, Dowager Countess Violet Crawley and Isabel Crawley encountered their own troubles with men. Dowager met up with her estranged husband prince Kuragin but Violet is having none of it, according to The Independent.
"I am sad to say I shall never again receive an immoral proposition from a man. Was I so wrong to savour it?" Violet said.
Last but not the least, the ongoing fight between Sprat and Denke heightened up. Denker managed to cook a good broth and gets one on Spratt.
Fans of the show can expect more romance as "Downtown Abbey" season 5 returns on Jan. 4, 2015.
