The Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers have already assured themselves a spot in the postseason with their exceptional play through 16 weeks of the 2014-15 NFL season. But on Sunday, the NFC North rivals will collide one more time for a chance to secure a first-round bye in the postseason.
Currently locked in a five-team deadlock at 11-4, both the Lions and the Packers are aware that a win on Week 17 will give them a great luxury of taking a one week rest and facing the wounded survivor of the division playoff carnage next week.
The Lions are heading into Sunday's showdown with Lions on a four-game winning streak and a purpose of scoring another win against the Packers after giving their division rivals a 19-7 beating on their home field.
Then again, the Packers are virtually impregnable at Lambeau Field this season. Led by former NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers and dynamic running back Eddie Lacy, Green Bay are 7-0 on their home field and they will absolutely gun for a perfect 8-0 on Week 17.
While Green Bay has Detroit's numbers in head-to-head encounter 22-5 since 2001, the Lions split the past four games with the Packers at 2-2 - One of their wins was the 40-10 beat-down on Nov 28, 2014.
