Just days before the New Year, Alicia Keys welcomed her new baby boy with rapper husband Swizz Beatz (aka Kasseem Dean) on Saturday. The couple announced the birth of their second son, Genesis Ali Dean, with simultaneous Instagram posts. Keys gave birth at 1:52 a.m. on Dec. 27.
Genesis is the second son of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz. According to the Los Angeles Times, the couple are already proud parents to 4-year-old son Egypt Dauod. While for Beatz alone, Genesis is his fifth child with three children from his previous relationships namely Nicole, his daughter and two sons Prince Nasir and Kasseem.
Before giving birth, Alicia Keys revealed in an interview that son Egypt is "super excited" about his baby brother.
"I think [Egypt's] super excited because he's not going to be the youngest anymore," Keys revealed in an interview, as reported by Today. "He's always kissing my belly."
While 35-year-old Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys' husband, also expressed his excitement for having another child.
"I am very excited about having another child," Beatz told People. "I now have a bigger purpose in life, I love giving back to my children."
Meanwhile the couple, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, started dating in 2008. Though the pairing was very private and discreet, Bustle reported it was very complicated and allegedly scandalous as well. Their relationship was a subject for public scrutiny as Beatz was still married to singer Mashonda. However, in the heat of the scandal, Keys and Beatz got married on the French Island of Corsica in 2010.
Alicia Keys, who gave birth to son Genesis Ali Dean early Saturday morning, shared the great news on her Instagram account on Sunday. According to CBC News, the 33-year-old songstress posted an image of her newborn son's footprints.
"The joy of joy is joy!! It's a boy!! We are so grateful!! #blessings!!❤❤❤❤❤❤," Keys captioned her post.
And while Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz are super excited for Genesis' arrival, The Independent reported that the couple's eldest son, Egypt, is also preparing and is very ready to welcome a sibling.
