NBA rumors have been piling up in bunches since the start of the trade period two weeks ago, and several reports coming from 'reliable league sources' have certainly generated more intrigue this season.
While there are plenty of credible reports circulating around, there are some that simply too good to be true. In fact, there's no single grain of truth to these fabricated report, but they are nevertheless enticing enough to fool thousands of NBA fans.
Miami Heat to Form Super Team Again
After creating a dynasty in the Eastern Conference for the past four years, the Miami Heat are looking to reload again in shortest possible time, and this time, Pat Riley sets his sight on the biggest free-agents available in the summer of the 2016.
Riley, the man behind the Heat's three NBA championship banner, is targeting to add Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant and bring back LeBron James, who rejoined the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer, to form perhaps the most formidable starting five in NBA history.
"I'm a dreamer - it's what I do best," Riley tells Page Q on a gorgeous "winter" afternoon (73 degrees) in South Florida. "Why can't I build the unequivocal greatest team ever constructed in the history of professional American sports? I'm mother****** Pat Riley...
"LeBron is certainly realizing the grass is never greener outside of Miami. His obsession with power has rendered him weak, foolishly thinking he could do it all - play, coach, and manage. Am I still pissed he left? You bet, that putz left a dynasty midway through. But business is business. Championship rings cure even the most tainted souls. He'll come back in 2016 and we will finish what we started."
Fact: Without any doubt, Riley's ego took a blow when James turned on him and took his talent back to Ohio. There's also no disputing that Riley is eager to put the Heat in position to contend for another title in the next two years.
However, the likelihood of Riley signing Durant, Howard and James to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh ranges from impossible to very impossible because of salary-cap restrictions, unless he's able to convince each to take a major paycut worth $10M per season.
Michael Jordan Coming Out of Retirement
"Six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan announced earlier today that after years of time away from the game, he will make an attempt to come back and play for the Charlotte Hornets, the team he co-owns. Jordan, 51, held a press conference earlier today and shocked sports journalists and fans alike with the possible game-changing announcement," via Empire News.
Fact: Empire News is a satirical website known for fabricating sensational stories. It's the same site that popularized the news on Blake Griffin mauling Justin Beiber at coffee shop, North Korea successfully landing the first man on the Sun, and Tony Romo being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. You get the point, it's all Hoax.
