Sleep Number Beds - US manufacturer Sleep Comfort has unveiled a new smart mattress designed to help kids get the best out of their sleeping time.
The Sleep Number SleepIQ bed, which was unveiled at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show (CES), comes after the company released a similar smart bed for adults at the CES 2014.
The Sleep Number SleepIQ bed comes with most of the features in the adult smart bed such as the inbuilt system to monitor one's heart rate, breathing and movement. Parents can monitor how their kids slept from the dashboard and note subtle differences in the quality of their sleep on different days.
For little kids the Sleep Number SleepIQ bed comes with a monster detector and a reward system, which gives out a star each time the child does what is needed to get a good night sleep; like coming to bed on time. Since we're talking of sleeping on time, the SleepIQ is designed to allow parents remotely turn off the lights on their children when they are awake past their bed time.
For parents, the Sleep Number SleepIQ bed takes the burden of monitoring sneaky teenagers and their movement. The bed is designed to alert the parent remotely once a child gets off his/her bed. The smart bed also features a light that comes on immediately one steps off the bed at night. This is important to help children find their way around and avoid crashing into something when they - for any reason - suddenly get up at night.
The Sleep Number smart bed scores a SleepIQ number to kids based on the quality of their sleeping time. The system is designed to work with children to sleep better, therefore it can be adjusted to become more firm when the little ones grow up a bit.
This unique Sleep Number bed is expected to hit the market later in the year and will be priced at about $1,000.
