Crayola Facebook Hacked - A company famed for colorful crayons and family centered marketing has issued an apology after hackers filled its Facebook page with sexually inappropriate art.
Crayola's Facebook page was hacked over the weekend - the hackers posted images of cartoon breasts and high school-like sex jokes to the company's 2.4 million followers. The hackers also posted several links to dozens of adult sites.
"We're aware of the situation on our official FB page, which was hacked today, and taking every effort to stop the unauthorized posts," Crayola tweeted after getting wind of the hack on its Facebook page.
Reports indicate that it wasn't till Sunday before the Fork Township, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer was able to get control of its Facebook page. The sophomoric memes and jokes were immediately deleted and an apology issued to the company's customers and fans.
"Our sincere apologies to our Facebook community for the inappropriate and offensive posts you may have seen here," the apology read. "Please be assured the official Crayola page has been restored."
The company also reached out to its customers via Twitter informing them of knowledge and stand on the hack and posted content.
"We don't condone the inappropriate & offensive content being posted to the fraudulent Crayola FB page & sincerely apologize to our fans," the company tweeted on yesterday following the colorful incident.
The news of the Crayola Facebook hack has since gone viral. Dozens of parents have expressed concerns over the hacking incident and the possibly of kids being exposed to inappropriate images and videos.
"Oh boy. looks like someone wasn't paying attention," Kat Homnack tweeted with hastag #crayonhackpic.
The Crayola Facebook hack has also raised questions about the company's cyber security effectiveness.
