"X-Files" Series Reboot - Chris Carter's "The X-Files", the iconic sci-fi drama series that have ran for 9 years (1993-2002), is set to make its television comeback. Back in the '90s, the series was a huge hit for FOX network and has received largely positive reviews.
"X-Files" fans will be thrilled after a possible series reboot has been reported. The Daily Mail revealed that FOX TV Group chairman Gary Newman confirmed Saturday, Jan. 17, that the network is planning for a new installment. The iconic supernatural drama series starred actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.
The possibility for the "X-Files" series reboot has been raised during the Television Critics' Association press tour in Pasadena, California, Variety reported. The talk about FOX's "24" also came up during the executive Q&A session.
"It's true that we've had some conversations on 'X-Files,'" Newman said. "We're hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point."
Fellow FOX TV Group chairman Dana Walden also confirmed that an "X-Files" series reboot would reunite main characters, FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder (Duchovny, 54) and Dana Scully (Anderson). However, she also added that there had been no concrete creative discussions yet about the shape or direction of the possible new installment.
"Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of 'The X-Files,'" Walden stated as quoted by The Huffington Post. "It was a great experience. We've maintained good relationships with [series creator] Chris [Carter], David and Gillian. We're very hopeful, but it's hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it's just trying to carve out the time."
Less than a week ago, TVLine revealed that 46-year-old Gillian Anderson have been urging fans to let their voices be heard for those who wanted a new installment for the series since FOX is reportedly considering an "X-Files" series reboot. During a Nerdist Podcast interview, Anderson together with Nerdist made the online world explode by asking fans to show their support for a television comeback with a hashtag #XFiles2015.
The possible "X-Files" series reboot is set in the summer, Deadline reported. The hit series has already made two-spin-off films, "The X-Files" in 1998 and 2008's "The X-Files: I Want To Believe."
