'Ghostbusters 3' Reportedly Features All-Female Group

"Ghostbusters 3" will reportedly have an all-female cast, according to Inquisitr.

Director Paul Feig talked about the idea of having lady members for the ghost busting group. The filmmaker said that there are a lot of speculations that it just a "gimmick" but he actually loves working with "funny women." Feig added that he is excited with the concept of "lady Ghostbusters."

The director also answered the question as to why he would reboot the film instead of creating a sequel. Feig revealed that he is interested in creating an original plot with new characters. The idea of ghosts may become common for the same setting and he thinks it is more fun to integrate them into a new environment, USA Today reported.

As for the PG-13 rating, the director has a history of doing R-Rated comedies since he wants to "feel honest." Although he would like "Ghostbusters 3" to be an R-Rated film, he thinks it is not necessary since it won't need a lot of "swearing," therefore PG-13 will do.

Feig's all women cast for "Ghostbusters 3" may come into fruition since there are speculations that the casting has already started. Reports say that Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Lizzy Caplan, Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson are the top contenders for the lead roles.

Among the female stars mentioned, McCarthy is reportedly the top choice since she has worked with Feig in several movies including "Bridesmaids" and "The Heat." Although there are reports that discussions have started between the actress and Feig, McCarthy needs to make time for the filming since she has a packed schedule with her TV show "Mike & Molly" and comedy film "Michelle Darnell," according to Cinema Blend.

Lawrence and Wilson are both busy as well but Stone is reportedly available in summer. Several celebrities named the three young actresses and McCarthy as their top choices to star in "Ghostbusters 3."

"Ghostbusters 3" does not have a release date as of this time but the director confirmed it will still be shot in New York City.
