The world's most prestigious night has finally arrived! And Colombia's Paulina Vega was officially crowned as the "Miss Universe" 2014 winner. This year's top 5 finalists answered two questions - one from the selected judges and the other was chosen from social media, Rappler revealed. And the Facebook question was "What is the greatest contribution of your country to the entire world?"
Candidates from 88 nations around the world showcased their exquisiteness, beauty and intelligence at the FIU Arena in the City of Doral-Miami, Florida. The ladies and the "Miss Universe" 2014 winner were judged by a panel of well admired and respected personalities in entertainment, sports and in the world of fashion.
The judges include boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, shoe designer Kristin Cavallari, actor William Levy, reality star Lisa Vanderpump, fashion journalist Louise Roe, professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, Marie Claire's Nina Garcia, Miami Marlin's Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton, Grammy Award winning musician Emilio Estefan and Washington Redskins' DeSean Jackson.
During the "Miss Universe" 2014 coronation night, Bazics.net revealed Latino crooner Prince Royce performed during the swimwear presentation. While singer Nick Jonas serenaded the ladies during the evening gown production. And Gavin DeGraw serenaded the top five finalists on the final presentation.
The "Miss Universe" 2014 winner was hailed among the top 5 finalists from Colombia, USA, Jamaica, Ukraine and Netherlands. The "Best in National Costume" award went to Elvira Devinamira of Indonesia, Nigeria's Queen Celestine was "Miss Congeniality Universe" while "Miss Photogenic Universe" was won by Gabriela Berrios of Puerto Rico.
Paulina Vega of Colombia was hailed as the "Miss Universe" 2014 winner. While Yahoo! Celebrity reported that USA's Nia Sanchez was the first runner-up, Diana Harkusha of Ukraine was 2nd runner up, Netherlands' Yasmin Verheijen landed as the 3rd runner up and Kaci Fennell of Jamaica nailed the 4th place.
"Miss Universe" 2014 winner Paulina Vega of Colombia was crowned by 2013 titleholder Gabriella Isler of Venezuela. According to Local Pulse, Vega's crown was made by Czech-based jeweler Diamonds International Corporation, the newest official jewelry maker of the "Miss Universe." The show was hosted by Natalie Morales of "Today" show and MSNBC's Thomas Roberts. Joining the main hosts was Jeannie Mai as the backstage host of the event.
