Lady Gaga has once again managed to get herself stuck in the middle of a controversy. It is for a really bad reason this time.
After being a role model for millions of people and singing "Born this way" loud and clear, the mother monster is now encouraging to follow thinspiration?
A tweet by Gaga has stirred debates on what exactly she meant by her tweet Tuesday when she said "Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay"
Obviously, the hash tag "Pop stars don't eat" is highly misleading to her more than 22 million followers on Twitter, most of who are teenagers.
Many of her fans have interpreted it as being pretty insensitive.
Was she trying to encourage her fans not to eat?
It comes as a little shocking to have the "Bad Romance" singer tweet something as insensitive as that because she is someone who on earlier occasions had spoken against eating disorders, now sounds like endorsing anorexia.
"I'm gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off," Lady Gaga had said at the conference held in Los Angeles and hosted by former California first lady Maria Shriver.
Upset fans have tweeted about something like this coming from Gaga.
"I was on the verge of becoming bulimic and now I just might because of YOU. #PopSingersDontEat," said a tweet.
"Seriously what is Lady Gaga playing at? In her last tweet she put #PopSingersDontEat. Great role model she is.."
While there are fans who believe that promoting anorexia is not what the pop singer meant.
Lady Gaga has not responded to the tweet and it's unlikely she would, considering she vowed last month that she did "not intend to speak to anyone for a very long time." And by "anyone" she meant the media, the Washington Post had reported. She is apparently doing it as a part of her creative process.
