Sara Grkovic - A 22-year-old Croatian model has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her identical twin in the chest and thigh because she was jealous of her relationship with a man, who she liked.
According to reports, identical twins Sara and Dajana Grkovic lived together in their mother's house in Rijeka, a northern Croatian port city.
Neighbors called authorities to their residence on Saturday night following a quarrel between the sisters that turned ugly. Sara is reported to have stabbed her sister with a kitchen knife leaving her critically injured and fighting for her life.
Dajana has since been transported to the hospital, where she is said to be receiving treatment in the intensive care ward. She is said to be in a stable condition and recovering.
"They were apparently arguing about a man that they both liked. He seems to have settled down in a relationship with Dajana and Sara was not happy about it," a neighbor said."I never would have thought it would come to her trying to kill her sister though."
"They were always immaculately groomed and polite, and as alike as two peas in a pod. I never knew which one was passing me in the corridor but they always said hello."
According to reports, although the girls were identical and beautiful, they were very jealous of each other.
Another neighbor told local reporter that "both of them were stunning, I don't think they worried about competition from other women, but they were certainly jealous of each other."
The girls had reportedly been living alone since their mother traveled to Germany where she is working. Their father is not in contact with the family.
"They had been a bit wild since their mother went away, and they were left to their own devices. But we never thought it would come to something like this," a neighbor said.
