Jesse Ventura On American Sniper's Chris Kyle: 'A Hero Is Not How Many People You've Killed'

Jesse Ventura - The former Minnesota Governor and WWE star has opened another chapter in the bitter dispute between him and the late American Sniper hero Chris Kyle after he questioned the right of the Navy SEAL, who had an astonishing 160 confirmed kills, to be referred to as a "hero."

Ventura, who is himself an ex-Navy SEAL, was speaking on Fox New Radio when he made the controversial comments.

According to Ventura, who has long been a critic of the US war in Iraq, the fact that the US government "invaded" Iraq and "overthrew" its government somehow belittles the achievement of the late sniper Chris Kyle, who reportedly served four tours in the war.

Ventura compared the US military encroachments in other countries to that of the Nazi and the Communists. "Well what I'm stating is that we invaded Iraq, we were not asked in. We invaded a country, we overthrew its government, and then we killed people that lived there," he said.

"A hero should have honor. A hero is not how many people you've killed," he said."You know he's obviously a great sniper. He's obviously a great shot. He obviously did his job correctly...Do you think the Nazis have heroes?"

Ventura won a lawsuit against the Kyle last year over comments the veteran sniper made on radio in 2012 about an apparent incident at a California bar, where he ended up slapping Ventura for badmouthing the Iraq war and the Bush administration. But Ventura insists that the incident never happened as Kyle described it.

Despite coming under immense criticisms for opting to continue his case against Kyle even after his death, Ventura has consistently upheld his anti-war stance and yes, he may have lost a lot of fans because of this...
