Veteran actor Tom Hanks and Wilson, the famous volleyball, are together at last! After almost 15 years apart, Hanks and his volleyball bestie have finally reunited. The historical event happened on Wednesday night at the New York Rangers game.
After the "Saved by the Bell" cast reunion video went viral, another nostalgic celebrity reunion transpired, and this time it's the 2000 "Cast Away" stars, Tom Hanks and Wilson. According to Time, the veteran actor held up a volleyball that looked like Wilson, the infamous hand-printed piece of sporting material that kept Hanks' ship-wrecked character (Chuck Noland) company in the movie.
In a Tom Hanks-Wilson reunion video posted by the New York Rangers hockey team, 28-year-old Hanks was seen sitting in the stands when a volleyball was tossed to him. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the award-winning actor caught and looked at the ball before turning its face to the camera and chanted, "Let's go, Rangers!"
Meanwhile, the "Cast Away" film depicted Chuck Noland's tale. Us Weekly said Noland was a FedEx executive whose plane had crashed in the Pacific Ocean. For years, he was stranded on a deserted island with only one companion - a Wilson volleyball. Eventually, Noland abandoned the island with Wilson in tow hoping to be found, but the volleyball drifted away before it can be saved at the end of the movie.
The 2000 Oscar-nominated film was directed by Robert Zemeckis.
Though it took 15 years for Tom Hanks and Wilson to reunite, their re-acquaintance at the recent New York Rangers hockey game brought back nostalgic memories of the film. According to Gossip Cop, the "Cast Away" costars' reunion was even more exciting than the actual game.
The poignant reunion of Wilson and Tom Hanks was shared by the team on Instagram.
"ICYMI at the #NYR game last night Tom Hanks and Wilson were finally reunited! #BFF," the team captioned the post.
