Two weeks after the controversial conclusion of "Miss Universe" 2014, reigning winner Paulina Vega of Colombia finally broke her silence and addressed the issues regarding the pageant's result scandal. Though she faced several negative criticisms, the 22-year-old beauty queen has not taken it personally.
The "Miss Universe" 2014 results night last Jan. 25 in the City of Doral in Miami has sparked social media outrage. We previously reported right after the announcement of winner and runner-ups were made, the online world erupted in fury over the results. Jamaica's Kaci Fennell became a worldwide trend on Twitter along with claims that she would have been the winner.
Despite the controversies, current "Miss Universe" 2014 winner Paulina Vega remained resilient. And two weeks after, Latino Post revealed the Colombian stunner is ready to share about her life following her victory.
"This experience has surpassed my expectations completely," she told El Diario. "The way I have been received in the city is incredible, because every time I go to a new event I find Colombians and Latinos, so the experience has been more bearable than I thought."
Colombia's Paulina Vega also addressed the accusations that she did not deserve the crown and has robbed Jamaica's Kaci Fennell of the "Miss Universe" 2014 title. She also said the "booing" was quite overstated.
"I think whoever won was never going to please the entire world, because there are 88 candidates and all had their own group," Vega stated. "The FIU auditorium is super small, so any yell was heard as though it were the entire auditorium. People believe that it was 95 percent of the auditorium, but it wasn't like that. "
"I think no one thought Jamaica was going to be the first called in the top five, but I think that she is also happy being a top five finalist," she added. "It turned into something sad when the whole world should be proud and happy about what Jamaica did."
Meanwhile, as the reigning "Miss Universe" 2014 winner, Paulina Vega seems to have a lot to do during her reign. After attending the New York Fashion Week, she will be going to Indonesia and Dubai. Then after, she will finally get her much-awaited homecoming in Colombia since she has not been able to celebrate her victory with her home nation yet.
