The new case called popSlate for iPhones can provide users another display at the back, which will not affect the battery life, Digital Trends reported.
The 4-inch E Ink screen copies the device's real screen and it is always on. If the iPhone's battery is already low, the user can use the popSlate to check on the notifications to save the gadget's battery life. Other than that, it can also display stationary photos such as tickets or maps.
The popSlate is also ideal for e-book readers. The user can customize the images that will appear on the second screen. The E Ink display can also be used as a viewfinder when taking pictures.
The case can last one week with a single charge using a micro USB. Even if the iPhone is battery empty, the popSlate can still work. As with all primary roles for phone cases, popSlate also protects the device.
For fashion enthusiasts, the digital case can also be customized depending on the outfit of the user. It can match the iPhone owner's fashion statement for the day with a preferred image, Lovetoknow reported.
For organized people, popSlate can also be used to feature to-do lists, calendars and scheduled meetings. This is highly convenient when the user is too busy to turn on the iPhone to check on the daily schedule.
PopSlate started as a product in the crowd sourcing site Indiegogo. The product earned $219, 147 for funding but based on the comments on the site, buyers have not received the product. Although the funding ended two years ago, there are still a lot of complaints about not receiving the ordered popSlate.
The product was initially expected to arrive in June 2013 but the buyers did not receive anything. Recently, the team behind popSlate informed the buyers that the first supplies were sold out but they expect to finish all deliveries before this month ends. Anyone who would like to order the product may need to check on the comments for reference, according to iDigital Times.
PopSlate is only compatible with iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 and is available for $129.
