Sophie B. Hawkins, 50, is pregnant with another child! Considering her age, the American singer and single mom of one stunned the world for her announcement over the weekend when she revealed she's carrying her second child.
Sophie B. Hawkins' shockingly amazing pregnancy came six years after giving birth to son Dashiell in November 2008. People revealed the "As I Lay Me Down" singer will be welcoming a daughter in July.
Always wanting to be a mother, pregnant Sophie B. Hawkins admitted she froze 15 embryos when she was 31. The Daily Mail disclosed that though she was in "great health, she still had to overcome the emotional risks of having a second child and "losing the closeness" with her son.
"We've come through serious trauma with depth, healing and humor and that has made our bond even stronger," Hawkins said. "I grieved a lot when I finally decided to put the embryo inside of me."
Despite what many people may think about the risks of being pregnant at Sophie B. Hawkins' age, New York Daily News reported the singer shared it's a perfect time to have another child.
"Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear," she said. "I'm not running around looking for love and validation. I live each day full of gratitude, and that's good for my children."
Sophie B. Hawkins, who's about four months pregnant, also shared about her incredible relationship with her son Dashiell, whom she got physical custody after her separation from longtime partner and manager, Gigi Gaston, in August 2014 after a six-year relationship.
"Dashiell is increasingly independent of me, and yet he's still very engaged in his childhood," she exclusively told Us Weekly. "Dashiell and I have had the magical twosome for six adventurous years, that intense focus of an only child and single mother, and we're ready to invite a new and unknown dynamic into our lives."
The New York City-born artist also said that she decided to have another baby after realizing her son needed a sibling.
"My son has one parent who's 50. I want him to have a family of young people too!" she explained. "For me, the main decision was emotional. I've been wanting to have a child since Dashiell was 1, but I was working too much and there was a lot going on in my relationship."
Meanwhile, Sophie B. Hawkins is pregnant with her second child after being implanted with her own frozen embryo while the sperm was provided by a donor. She is currently in her second trimester and has not yet decided on the name of her daughter. However, she happily shared her son Dashiell calls the baby, "Bubblegum."
