Kyle Kraska - A 54-year-old man was booked into the San Diego Jail in the early hours of Wednesday morning on suspicion of having attacked and shot CBS 8 sports director Kyle Kraska several times as he left his home in El Cajon on Tuesday afternoon.
Mike Montana had reportedly been renting a back house at a property in Noden, El Cajon. El Cajon police say neighbors alerted the cops after recognizing a van that matched the police's description from the incident parked in front of a home.
CBS 8 quotes one neighbor saying "I went straight to the house to knock on the door to confront the owner to say 'hey is this in fact the gentleman, that you know, you rent a room to' and let her know hey they're looking for him and I'm calling the police."
Reports indicate that authorities cut power supply in Nolan and people were evacuated from homes in the entire block as a SWAT team prepared to apprehend Mike Montana. But the suspect heeded the advice of a police negotiator, who was speaking to him over the phone, and he came out of the house with his hands in the air.
It is still unclear what the exact nature of the relationship between the veteran CBS sports director and the suspect is. San Diego and El Cajon police have not shared anymore details about the suspect and his motive.
At around 3:00 p.m. reports indicate that Mike Montana opened fire on Kyle Kraska as he reversed to leave his home in his Mercedes Benz. Police and neighbors say Montana fired multiple rounds, but it is unclear exactly how many shots were fired.

Montana reportedly drove off in a white van with "Superior Painting" written on the side after the attack. The easily recognizable design of his getaway vehicle later led the cops to find him. Police had announced that Montana is armed and dangerous.

Just as Montana was being taken into custody, police say Kyle Kraska came out of surgery. The exact nature of his injuries is unclear, but reports indicate that he sustained several gunshots on his legs. CBS 8 anchor Nichelle Medina has revealed that Kyle Kraska's "prognosis is good."
Investigators are reportedly looking into the incident. Local sources say Mike Montana will be arraigned in the San Diego Superior Court on Friday on a charge of attempted murder.
