Ferrari Concept Car - The Manello-based sports car manufacturer has released images of an impressive looking concept car as the Formula One Commission meet to discuss the future of the sport.
The main difference between Ferrari's concept car and the current F1 car's is its appearance. A statement from Ferrari said minimal regulatory changes would be needed to transform the current appearance of F1 cars into its futuristic concept car.
One of the most notable changes in the Ferrari concept car is the double decker on the front wing of the vehicle. The well sculpted body of the car also looks to be more robust.
According to Ferrari, the car is "technologically advanced," "captivating to the eye," and "aggressive-looking." The Ferrari concept car was developed by the company's design studio in collaboration with the aero department of its F1 wing - the Ferrari Scuderia.
The company has invited F1 fans to comment on the appearance of the vehicle.
The Formula One Commission is meeting in Geneva on Tuesday to vote on whether a major overhaul of rules in the game in 2016 should be allowed. Depending on the outcome of this vote, the Ferrari concept car could be on the tracks very soon.
Reports indicate that McLaren and Red Bull have also developed concept cars, but both companies opted not to release images of their cars to the press. Nonetheless, experts say general changes to F1 cars that fans should expect would include bigger tyres and wider/more robust cars.
The plan to improve the appearance of F1 cars is part of a broader strategy to make the sport more appealing to the general public. But it is clear that any radical changes to F1 cars would have to go through many walls - both regulatory and safety-wise.
With that said, visit here to tell Ferrari what you think of this concept car, and feel free to also drop a comment below.
