Betty Lou Bredemus - The mother of Pretty Woman actress Julia Roberts has died on Thursday morning at the St. John Health Center in Los Angeles.
Betty Lou Bredemus, 80, had been battling lung cancer. According to IBTimes, she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her lungs in Nov. 2013. Betty had reportedly been living with her daughter Julia and her family in the last few months of her life.
Any true fan of Julia Roberts is no stranger to her influential mother. Betty Lou Bredemus is known to have been deeply interested in acting and production. Actually, all her children Julia Roberts, Eric Roberts, Lisa Gillian and the late Nancy Motes are linked with the entertainment industry - even her grandchild Emma Roberts.
In the sixties and seventies, Betty Lou Bredemus, whose family lived in Georgia for many generations, ran an acting school - Actors and Writers Workshop - in Atlanta with Julia's father Walter Grady Roberts, who was also had interested in acting and production.
The death of Betty Lou Bredemus comes less than a year after her daughter and Julia's half-sister Nancy Motes committed suicide, while apparently suffering from depression. Motes, who was a production assistant for the award-winning TV show Glee, blamed her depression on her mother and siblings in a chilling suicide note. Motes reportedly died of drug overdose. She was 37 at the time of her death.
