Jeremy Lin put up another excellent all-around showcase on Sunday, tallying 20 points, 8 assists and 6 rebounds in a Los Angeles Lakers’ 108-101 loss to Oklahoma City Thunder at Staples Center.
After lackluster performance through the first half of the 2014-15 NBA season, the 26-year old Lin is slowly turning things around since returning from the All-Star break, as he emerged as the most consistent player for the Lakers these past five games.
Coming off a 14-point, 6-assists and 5-rebounds production in a win against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, Lin had a Linsanity-type show against the streaking Thunder, who remained formidable from top to bottom despite missing the service of superstars Kevin Durant (foot) and Russell Westbrook (facial fracture) to injuries.
With the Thunder star duo missing in action, Lin took the opportunity of attacking the heart of the Thunder defense, shooting 7-for-14 from the field and converting 5-for-6 of his foul shots. The former Harvard standout also did a superb job finding his teammates and playing solid defense in 31 minutes of action.
Jordan Hill contributed 14 points and 12 rebounds and Jordan Clarkson added 12 points and 4 assists off the bench, but the Lakers can’t salvage what Lin though a ‘winnable game.’
"It's discouraging, but it's not like we were at full force, too," Lin said in a post-game interview via ESPN. "I mean, we've been down without Kobe for a long, long time, and Nick was hurt. This was one where we felt like it was a winnable game, but they played well."
Enes Kanter racked up 16 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists, while DJ Augustin recorded 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the Thunder, who now improved their record 33-27 and solidified their hold on the 8th spot in the Western Conference standings.
